Our Ministries
General Info
Our team is motivated by a desire to serve. We are excited to be able to contribute monthly to the various projects in Mexico through Children of Hope as well as fundraising for the Pediatrics Ward at Langley Memorial Hospital.
Several of our team members have been able to travel to the orphanages in Mexico and see first-hand the good work that is going on there. Some have served on missions teams, others have gone as board members and leadership to understand the very real impact we are having on their lives.
The LMH Pediatrics Ward is dear to our hearts as well since our volunteers are from Langley and the neighbouring cities. Everyone has had some experience with our local hospital, and since our mission is to support the care of children, this is a natural fit.
Children of Hope
We have committed to funding projects (not day to day expenses) and each month there is no shortage of needs for the 9 orphanages and soup kitchens in Mexico. We have contributed to solar panels and coverings to protect vehicles from the harsh Mexican sun. We have helped build dormitories and security walls. We have purchased reliable vehicles to safely transport children to doctor and social services appointments.
When volunteer members have met staff and supporters in Mexico we have been greeted with tears and hugs of gratitude. It is an emotional experience to go there and see where the children have come from and truly understand the impact we are having and the blessing our contributions are.

Langley Memorial Hospital
Our first year of fundraising for LMH we were able to raise over $6000 towards PANDA Warmers in the maternity unit. These machines enable the medical team to provide care for newborns without having to import all kinds of separate equipment into the birthing room. In the case of emergency, everything required is right there.

This year our project is a Vital Signs Monitor for the Pediatrics Ward. Equipment becomes outdated and keeping current is a constant requirement. Having more new monitors enables the staff to keep a constant eye on fragile children. The cost of such a monitor is $6800. This amount is more in line with what we can collect at the till and supplement with our annual donation. We are looking forward to being able to say, “This monitor was supplied by Hope for Children Thrift Store!”
